TODD GLASS NAMED CHAIRMAN OF ULI OKLAHOMA

Todd Glass, Managing Partner at the Humphreys Funds, was recently named Chairman of the Urban Land Institute Oklahoma District Council. The Urban Land Institute is a global, multidisciplinary real estate organization whose work is driven by 40,000-plus members dedicated to leadership in the responsible use of land and creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. As ULI Oklahoma’s Chairman, Glass will serve on a voluntary basis for a two-year term that ends in 2019. Read More

Emerging Trends 2017: Authentic Neighborhoods, Affordability, and Vibrant Local Economies Drive Ascent of 18-Hour Cities

Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth are the top two markets for real estate development and investment identified in Emerging Trends in Real Estate® 2017, released recently by ULI and PwC. The Texas cities capped a top ten list dominated by 18-hour cities known for their vibrant economies, relative affordability, and authentic neighborhoods. Only two gateway cities, Los Angeles and San Francisco, cracked the top-ten markets to watch, indicating continued investor interest in secondary markets where job growth is strong and the quality of life high, such as Portland, Oregon; Nashville; and Charlotte. In 13 States, Land Banks Stabilizing Weakened Municipalities

From 1971 to 2008, only five states passed legislation enabling land banks; but in the last six years, another eight have done so. As vacancies and blight have plagued parts of the United States still recovering from recession and the mortgage foreclosure crisis, so too has land banking grown. There are now some 120 land banks and land-banking programs, with West Virginia joining the list in 2014. Read More
