The Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) held its 30th Annual Congress in Oklahoma City from March 23-26, 2022. The annual event brings planners, designers, architects, developers, and advocates for public transit and walkability together in a different host city year to year. This year was Oklahoma City’s first experience hosting the unique event.
CNU’s goals as an organization focus broadly on making towns and cities more resilient, accessible, and more welcoming of codes and regulations that make new and better forms of development possible.
Throughout the week, CNU30 participants were invited to attend sessions on neighborhood revitalization, real estate development, policy, zoning, and more. Many attendees also had the opportunity to tour developments like the Wheeler District mixed-use neighborhood on the Oklahoma River and the renovated 1930s First National Tower hotel and apartments. Other tours showcased downtown revitalization in Edmond and Norman, “Missing Middle” infill development projects, and more.
