Discovery Lab has been igniting the curiosity of children since 2007, initially as a museum without walls. In May 2013, Discovery Lab opened their first walls in the Owen Park Recreation Center. Then, in early 2022, the museum opened a 57,000-square-foot world-class facility in Gathering Place park that will be transformative for Tulsa’s children and families, and will respond to a compelling educational need in the community. The museum projects to impact over 300,000 children and families each year at the new site.

Join us on April 28th for a tour through this innovative facility. Guests will explore Discovery Lab's exhibit hall, classrooms, rental spaces, and learn about other exciting features about the building and operations that provide amazing STEAM-centered interactive and informal learning.

    Jim Boulware

    Principal, KKT Architects, Inc.

Jim demonstrates inspiration, passion, dedication, and leadership in every project he touches. Client-focused, he develops projects that meet functional needs while exceeding aesthetic expectations. Jim’s design talents have earned acclaim for him and KKT. His conceptual design for the Tornado Tower won international recognition. His design for Tulsa’s Gathering Place Pedestrian Bridge competition was among four finalists; and Center of the Universe, a concept for redevelopment of Downtown Tulsa, received local and national attention. Jim approaches the design process as a problem-solving exercise by listening to clients, prioritizing their requirements and goals, then developing a solution that meets their needs. The aesthetic and style of his projects takes their spirit from the problem-solving process, giving each project its own identity. He believes that successful projects should not reflect the designer’s personal style or ego, but spotlight the client’s program, site, budget, values, and culture. Jim is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Architecture.
