The Atlanta BeltLine project is an iconic, internationally recognized urban revitalization effort that has exemplified how greenspace and a historic railway can serve as catalysts for economic development, connectivity, cultural preservation, and transformative design. Join us as President and CEO, Clyde Higgs, visits to share lessons learned from the project and how its created opportunities for cultural flourishing, inclusive economic development, strengthened social cohesion, and stronger neighborhoods.

This convening has been inspired by a collaboration between OU Institute for Quality Communities, Environmental Design and Interior Design students, and the community of Taft, one of Oklahoma’s existing Black townships. Under the guidance and support from OU College of Architecture faculty Mia Kile, Marco Piscitelli, and Vanessa Morrison, students are working with Taft leadership to reimagine an abandoned railway and historic school site to support placemaking, cultural tourism, and quality of life goals in the community.
