On January 13, 2022 ULI Tulsa welcomed Kirk Humphreys to speak at the ULI Insights Luncheon. Members enjoyed hearing how Kirk became mayor of Oklahoma City and how, with the help of his son, Blair Humphreys, founded the local ULI Oklahoma District Council.

Especially enlightening was Kirk’s account of the aftermath of the 1995 Murrah Building bombing. Led by an Urban Land Institute Advisory Panel, city leaders used the report/findings to set the course for revitalization and forge a path forward.  Much of what downtown Oklahoma City is today is a direct result of the ULI panel recommendations.

Humphreys wrapped up the luncheon by challenging the group to search for ways to make Tulsa the First, Best and the Only.
